THE VAMP

The Panic Years is the highly-anticipated debut album from rising sensation: Bradley Simpson. The lead singer of the world-renowned pop group The Vamps is now taking the chance to branch out into a solo career. With The Panic Years, Simpson passionately delves into his personal experiences, showcasing a personal, introspective side of his artistry that fans have yet to fully see.

The album opens with his debut single: Cry at the Moon. Released in March 2024, the single showcases not only Bradley’s vocal talent but his song writing ability too. Delving into themes of a broken relationship, it beautifully captures the emotions so vividly, that you feel as though you’re living through it yourself.

Now I cry at the moon
She don’t shine quite like you I’m all wrapped up in chains
No matter what I do
There’s no coming back from you

NOT US ANYMORE

The story continues in Not Us Anymore. Bradley, like most of the tracks on the album, has been playing this on tour to fans since March 2024 at his first run of solo headline shows. Fans have been sharing their excitement online, and the recorded version unlocks an entirely new layer, adding even more depth to the song.

The Panic Years marks an evolution in Bradley’s music with The Vamps. It dives deeper into an indie-rock vibe, incorporating vibrant ’80s synths and a little psychedelic flair. He does this whilst staying true to his unique signature style. This album marks a promising start to a solo career for Simpson, showcasing artistic growth and an ability to craft a distinct musical identity.

Almost, one of the few songs that has never been performed live, opens with a strong synth beat. It explores the complexities of love, with his contradicting lyrics.

You were almost the best thing that happened to me

FAVOURITE BAND

Favourite Band captures Brad’s attitude towards his past relationship. The bridge is particularly hard-hitting with his layered raw vocals soaring through, adding emotion behind the lyrics. Exploring the complexities of moving on, it reveals a sense of both pain and freedom. The powerful vocal performance allows extra vulnerability, making the song resonate with listeners.

I’m gonna write a song hit single baby
Something I could do to prove you wrong
Drive you crazy when I’m sitting there at number 1
You never cared for karma now you understand
I’m in your new boy’s favourite band

The Bandโ€™s Not Breaking Up stands as a symbol of the breakdown of a relationship; despite speculation that it was about The Vamps. Bradleyโ€™s emotive vocals take the spotlight, blending with the tuneful acoustic guitar. Itโ€™s the perfect track to listen to looking out of the window on a train.

THE PANIC YEARS

Bradley concludes his debut solo record with the final song and title track: The Panic Years. The intro hints towards more vulnerability, allowing listeners to connect with a personal moment. As the track progresses, it symbolises a linear closure to The Panic Years journey, offering listeners a time to reflect.

Iโ€™d wait for you If itโ€™s forever
Til I turn blue
Iโ€™d hold my breath for 10 more years of panic

Bradley will head out on a record store tour this month/start of March, as well as a full UK tour in May to promote the album. He will also perform at major festivals this summer including Boardmasters and Victorious Festival. You can view all of Bradley Simpson’s tour dates here.
