YEARNING AND HYPERSIGIL

Glasgow-based alt-pop artist Elisabeth Elektra has announced her sophomore album, Hypersigil, and already shared its lead single, Yearning. Available now via Occult Babes, the track was co-produced by regular collaborator Jonny Scott of Chvrches. The track channels the emotional volatility of The Downward Spiralโ€“era Nine Inch Nails with the pop maximalism of Lady Gaga. A song that “explores desire, devotion, and the perils of limerence.

โ€œItโ€™s about what we give away when we want to be seen. The risks we take in yearning for connection in a society that makes us feel increasingly lonely,โ€ says Elektra says of the track. Yearning will be accompanied by a self-directed video.

The upcoming album, Hypersigil, is set for release on 6th June. It takes its name from a concept coined by comic book writer and chaos magician Grant Morrison โ€” a โ€œliving narrative spellโ€ designed to transform reality. Elektra leans into this idea fully, crafting an album that straddles the line between modern pop record and metaphysical ritual.

Hypersigil is accompanied by a bespoke โ€˜Sigil Generatorโ€™ designed by chaos magician Matt of ChaosTarot.com. Fans can visit Elisabeth Elektraโ€™s Website from May 9th and generate their own sigils based on their intentions.

Hypersigil follows the 2020 debut Mercurial, and promises a darker and more ambitious evolution in her sound, with more direct songwriting โ€” one that situates her at the crossroads of chaos magick and avant-pop experimentation.
