POWERHOUSE FORMATION, TECHNICAL PROWESS AND ELECTRIFYING CHEMISTRY
Kansas City indie-roots-rock outfit, Katy Guillen & The Drive are gearing up for a busy autumn. Their forthcoming album, Make That Sound, is scheduled for release on 17th October and, to prepare the world for what promises to be a seismic endeavour, the band are drip-feeding a few singles – to put us in the mood. Outcome is the second such foretaste and it follows on the heels of lead single, What If, released earlier this summer.
Katy Guillen & The Drive are: Katy Guillen (vocals and guitar) and life-partner Stephanie Williams (drums). They came together in 2018 and their debut album, Another One Gained was released in 2022. The band prides itself in fostering empowered spaces for women in music – both onstage and off – and performances showcase the group’s signature all-female powerhouse formation, technical prowess and electrifying chemistry. Those attributes are no idle boast, incidentally, as a few minutes with Outcome will readily testify.

ENOUGH POWER TO MOVE AN EXPRESS TRAIN...
A driving, melodic, rocker, Outcome provides an alluring taste of what we can expect from the forthcoming album. The song is about “…finding your voice and going for what you want in life, regardless of the hurdles and challenges that you’ll face along the way.” As Katy says: “It’s a call to push through self-doubt and create your space in the world. You can steer the outcome.”
“For all the young women out there,” growls Katy, to get this gritty rocker up and running. Her vocals are joyful and confident and Stephanie’s drums provide enough power to move an express train – and the twin guitars and bass make full use of that drive. Katy’s guitar solo reaches for the stars yet, at no point, do the band abandon the inherent melody of the song.
FEEL THE JOY, THE POWER AND THE PASSION
To get the full benefit of Outcome, it’s best enjoyed along with the official video – you’ll feel the joy, the power and the passion and you’ll sway to the rhythm and the melody. Outcome is an enticing foretaste of Make That Sound, and there’ll be more tasters to come before the October release of the album. We’ll be watching this one, and we suggest that you do likewise.
