Leaving Eden: Why I Love

The band who say : “Yes we can be heavy but can’t be put in a box.”

We’re joined by Eric Gynan, Co-founder of the bands Leaving Eden and Silver Springs Fleetwood Mac Tribute from Boston, MA – 2 different bands with the same members. A little introduction to the members: Eve (lead vocals), Alyssa Bailey White (keys/vocals), Jake Gynan (drums), Rich Chouinard (bass/vocals) and Eric Gynan (guitar/vocals) release their music via Verdict Music, Sony/Universal World Wide Distribution. A well connected group, they subvert the WIL format (we don’t mind that at all) which finds Leaving Eden shine the spotlight on …themselves.

Beginnings

Weโ€™ve been going a long long time. Never quit, never stopped, never gave up. I think thatโ€™s one of the things that makes us different because while other bands may implode, quit, and then maybe they get back together 5 to 10 years later, weโ€™ve always been here since we started.

When it clicked

I think any artist, if they’re good, they all have an opportunity.  Weโ€™ve toured with many national bands and itโ€™s always the same story that they made a wave locally and lots of people would come to see them whether it would be at private house parties, or a local bar. Thereโ€™s people out there that are paying attention to what is going on in every area and if thereโ€™s a buzz, thereโ€™s an opportunity.

Inspirations / influences

I get my inspiration from so many different artists. When I started out, my older brother turned me on to Black Sabbath.  Then getting to share the stage with Black Sabbath was full circle for us.  It all started at Woodstock, and just by chance when Woodstock came around for one of their reunions, we got to share the stage with Jefferson Starship, Janis Joplinโ€™s band, 10 Years After; we got to dine with them, dine with the kings.

Favourite songs, lyrics or album covers?

One of our songs, Redemption says:

โ€œI ainโ€™t searching for salvation, I already found my way through hell, I donโ€™t care about religion, drinking blood from the Wishingwell. I hold my faith with no reservation, but I would never put my faith in you, stay clear from all participation from anything I never want to do.โ€

I really like the album cover for that song, youโ€™ll see it in the song link. All of those album covers are Eve, our singer.

RUBBING ELBOWS WITH…
