A SEAMLESS BLEND OF STYLES AND INFLUENCES

Originally from Wales and now resident in Ludlow, Shropshire, Deborah Rose has performed internationally throughout Europe, the USA, Australia, New Zealand and Africa.ย  Her Celtic-inspired music is emotive, ethereal and โ€“ most definitely โ€“ from the heart, and sheโ€™s toured with such legends as Judy Collins, Ralph McTell, Jimmy Webb and author/activist Marianne Williamson, who has twice run for US President.

Deborahโ€™s new single, Atlas is the title track of her soon-to-be released fourth album (scheduled for 28th November).  Itโ€™s a stunning piece of work and a veritable showcase for a voice that has attracted comparisons to Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell and Eva Cassidy.  Deborahโ€™s music is often noted for its seamless blend of styles and influences which include pop, jazz and bluegrass.  Now, with Atlas, Deborah takes things a step further, integrating world music influences into her sound; the song was written during a sojourn into Moroccoโ€™s Atlas Mountains and, fittingly, features the oud of Moroccan maestro Majid Bekkas.

MOVING AND SOOTHING

And itโ€™s the sound of the wild wind that circulates the Atlas Mountains that gets Atlas underway.ย  Ben Walshโ€™s gently-fingerpicked guitar blends magically with Majidโ€™s oud and subtle strings complete the evocative picture.ย  The spirit of Joni Mitchell is clearly present in Deborahโ€™s vocal phrasing and Eva Cassidy is there, within the depths of Deborahโ€™s voice.ย  Produced by Jeremy Jameson, Atlas is a beautiful, slow-paced, contemplative song with a soft, persistent, hypnotic drumbeat.ย  Deborahโ€™s lyrics โ€“ which include references to calls to prayer and to the approach of Christmas bring together the contrasting cultures of Africa and Europe and that merger is cemented by Deborahโ€™s delicious delivery.

It is impossible nor to be moved and soothed by Atlas โ€“ itโ€™s the most enticing taster possible for what promises to be an exceptional album.
