Rosenthal – Afraid Of Stairs: Video Premiere

Rosenthal is back with, Afraid Of Stairs, teasing his debut album Luna. We have a video premiere of the track.

AN EMPATHETIC VISION

After much anticipation Rosenthal is back with, Afraid Of Stairs, set for release ahead of his debut album Luna, out via Afterimages, on 8th May 2026. The track is self-produced and performed by Jeppe Kiel Revsbech himself, with the backing of Danish distribution company Gateway Music (DK).

Afraid Of Stairs has been taken back into the studio, for a re-edit, to give a more raw visceral sound.  Rosenthal’s signature brand of alternative lo-fi dream pop is as vibrant as ever. An expression of authentic, abstract impressions of life, with deep echoing basslines and hints of the industrial.

The single evokes the tension between being ultra-sensitive, new beginnings and embracing the unknown. The video, shares hue and tones similar to the film Where The Wild Things Are by Spike Jonze (2009). While the track carries themes of bullying, and self-doubt, an empathetic vision is shared via the perspective of his nephew’s perceptions and experiences starting out in life. You can’t help but feel that Jeppe is somehow recalling some of his own formative impressions.

A SONG OF LOVE AND COMFORT

Revsbech himself explains: “Afraid Of Stairs was written as a song of love and comfort for my nephew, who, like me, was a bright but sensitive child. The lyrics are essentially trying to say: “The world is a tough place, but I’m here for you.”

“I recorded the first version of Afraid Of Stairs in 2013 with a more electronic feel, but I’ve always envisioned the song having a raw and organic sound. I feel this new version makes it one of the strongest songs on my album. A good indicator of how the album will sound overall.”
