Where We Sleep – Broken Bones: Video Premiere

We herald Broken Bones – a glimpse into the upcoming album The Arsonist, by Where We Sleep.

Where We Sleepย are excited to announce video to trackย Broken Bones to celebrate the release of new album,ย The Arsonist, out on 1st May 2026, viaย Not The Sleeper Records.

The track is performed, produced and recorded by multi-instrumentalist and vocalistย Beth Rettig, mixed byย John Cranmerย and mastered byย Guy Fixsen (My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Lush)

A MINIMALIST AESTHETIC

The video, directed byย Ashley Jones, seesย Beth Rettigย emerge into focus, amplifying the minimalist aesthetic: a splattering of beats, whistles and deep textured bass enter the canvas. Beth moves from rock chick, to Greek goddess, as she encounters free-floating shapes around her, creating music in the cosmos. Propelled into a futuristic planetary realm Rettig laments modern masculinity – โ€œso irresponsible, you want me, reject me, love, disrespect me, so irresponsibleโ€ฆโ€ย as she questions the creation of women and masculine values -โ€œit wasnโ€™t the rib it was the backbone…โ€

TANTALISING SOUNDSCAPE

Led by Rettigโ€™s distinctive vocals, an atmospheric and tantalising soundscape comes via a blend of dark pop, filthy electronica and guitars create. The darker corners of consciousness are navigated via synths, loops, guitars, bass and programmed beats.ย ย ย

Broken Bonesย opens with sparse and scattered beats, interspersed with metronomic and textured guitars, likening the architecture of the body and the bones that are broken to disappointment and heartbreak, calling for a sense of accountability.ย Where We Sleepย has a strong storytelling ethic, and Broken Bones is no exception.

Broken Bones might invoke visions of She Drew The Gunย orย Fiona Apple, taking a magnifying glass to our vulnerability, unafraid to tackle themes of personal growth, courage and disappointment, to come back stronger.ย
