BEDOUINE – LONG WAY TO FALL

Bedouine is the project of Syrian-American musician, Azniv Korkejian. It’s a name she chose because she relates personally to the Bedouin way of life. Bedouine’s 2017 self-titled debut album was inspired by memories of her early life in Syria. For Neon Summer Skin, her forthcoming (4th) album, she turns attention to her experiences in Saudi Arabia after Bedouine and her family relocated there when she was 10 years old.
Neon Summer Skin is due on 5th June 2026. Bedouine has decided that it’s time for the tasters to start being served. Lead single, Long way to Fall, is a song that finds Bedouine in conversation with a family member struggling with addiction.
Rich strings don’t quite prepare the lister for the full impact of Bedouine’s intense, resonant voice. The music – piano-led, with clean-sounding guitar and a discrete-yet-effective drum rhythm – pleasant, well-produced and the perfect accompaniment to Bedouine’s insightful lyrics: “And it’s not too late, for you – you don’t have it straight. Look at me – I’m on my way now.”
Speaking of the song, Beduoine says: “I was feeling lonely for [my family’s] company. I wanted so badly for us to show up for each other like we had when we were younger and things were more simple.”
INDOLORE – TERRY

Indolore is a French and Italian adjective meaning ‘painless’ or ‘without pain.’ It is also the nom de performance of Paris-based songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Guillamme Simon. At The Barrier and Indolore have impressive form, most notably in relation to his 2021 album, After the Rain, which impressed our writer so much that he immediately nominated it for that year’s Album of the Year list.
Back in 2008, Indolore stumbled across the legendary Glastonbury Fayre movie that documented the 1971 Glastonbury Festival. Indolore was instantly bewitched by the performance of English musician, Terry Reid.
It wasn’t long before Indolore and Terry got to know each other. In 2009, Terry recorded and performed with Indolore’s band, Shine. It became an enduring friendship.
Fast-forward to May 2025 and Indolore, Terry and a group of mates assembled in a Paris studio to record Indolore’s tribute to his friend. Simply titled Terry, the tribute acquires a poignancy that nobody could have wanted when; just a month after that recording, Terry Reid was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away just a few weeks later, in California on 4th August 2025.
“Glastonbury Fayre, magic in the air,” sings Indolore, to get this moving tribute underway. Indolore’s voice oozes respect for his friend and, through his lyrics: “I need to say the words, and send them to the world – I love you” and “We have to sing in harmony – everybody’s leaning on Terry,” he crystallizes the impact that Reid had upon his life. The music is soft, tight and – somehow – beautifully appropriate for such a wonderful tribute.
MICHAEL J. SHEEHY & THE HIRED MOURNERS
FULL MOON, EMPTY BELLY

An old school AA side coupled with Don’t We Deserve Some Kind Of Love, tease the album of the same name. It finds Michael in themes of addiction, recovery, forgiveness, love, loss and the search for identity, it brings into sharp focus a shift in perspective that began with its 2020 predecessor, Distance Is The Soul Of Beauty
For Full Moon, Empty Belly he channels his protagonist as a werewolf wondering what the night had in store for him. It was only much later, listening back to his original demo, he was reminded of a period in his early 20s , grappling with an eating disorder and a compulsion to self-harm,. Quite harrowing, yet warming to the subject and accompanying himself on piano, Don’t Put yourself Beyond The Reach Of Love sees Sheehy mourns the loss of an estranged friend rendered a recluse by his own addiction
Ultimately, the ray of hope in urging the choice of love and companionship over isolation and loneliness, he intones “It’s OK to be frightened.” Some distance from the balls out grind of Miraculous Mule, yet somehow more gripping.
LINES OF SILENCE – RADIATE EP

Ahead of their incoming album on Sprechen, Todmorden based gnostic electronic wizz-kids, Lines Of Silence get the excitement levels cranked up with the Radiate E.P. It foretells what we can expect from the duo later this year.
Transcendental Radiation features with a remix also included. It is a spacey voyage throwing in elements of drone, krautrock, dub and swathes of synths. The piece is wildly hypnotic. As the cover, and title kind of suggest, there is more than a hint of an otherworldly vibe. The remix from Kayla Painter is an ambient affair that gives the song a whole new dimension.
As a taster for the forthcoming album, the Radiate E.P. ramps up the excitement for the album in superb fashion.
