Dust Radio – Tupelo: Single Review

After two  acclaimed releases, Stockport based blues outfit Dust Radio are back with Tupelo; a new single that will surprise but  satisfy their appreciative fans.

Release Date: 22nd June 2024

Label: Independent

Format: Digital

We have long been admirers of Dust Radio. Their Shotgun Shack EP impressed (read here) and Problem & Remedy (read here) followed it up perfectly. Now, the Stopfordian release their new sinle; Tupelo.

Tupelo  represents a shift in the sound we have come to expect from Dust Radio. From the more smoky bar room blues, Tupelo sees the duo in more swampy Americana territory.

A more acoustic finger picking opening leads into the addition of a folky violin. The clear suddenly lifts to a catchy chorus that follows the main riff running through the song.

Having witnessed Dust Radio live before, it is clear that Tupelo will become a live favourite.  The stunning harmonica and  infective beat  which are trademarks of the Dust Radio sound remain intact even through a deviation in sound. After appearing at a fringe venue at Colne Rhythm and Blues festival they have deservedly attained a spot opening a Saturday event at one of the main stages. Check them out, you won’t be disappointed
