Pastel – Vinilo Records: Live Review

Following the release of their debut album, Souls in Motion, Pastel head out on a record store tour before taking to the road for their biggest ever UK Tour next month.

A NEW PERSPECTIVE

Souls In Motion is showing its promise. As the dust starts to settle on a great album launch tour through some of the UK’s indie store, the band hit #1 in the Official Record Store Chart. It is no less than the band deserve. At Vinilo Records in Southampton, we caught the band in an intimate setting.

Pastel kick off with fan-favourite: Heroes’ Blood. Jack Yates’ vocals were nothing short of mesmerising, resonating with even greater emotion when heard live. The raw energy of the performance brought a new perspective to the song, captivating the audience from the very first note.

Sunnyside brings the album to reality with the raw vocals blending seamlessly with the rest of the band. The song even featured James Yates’ backing vocals shine through along with him whistling. The crowd showed their appreciation by nodding heads and cheering as the song came to a close.

Escape showcases an exotic drumbeat by Rhys Wheeler, complemented by additional backing vocals. The precise guitar playing feels even more electric in this intimate setting. Despite being an ‘acoustic show’, that didn’t stop the crowd from singing along quietly, still enjoying the band so close in front of them.

Pastel brings an inescapable energy, no matter where they perform. With such a powerful show, Pastel fans will be looking forward to seeing what they have in store for the future. Make sure to catch the band on their UK tour next month!
