Proudly hailing from the North East, fast-rising artist Amelia Coburn releases her first single of 2025 with the bewitching Sandra.

SANDRA
Rising North East artist Amelia Coburn has just released a scenic new video for Sandra. Taken from her debut album Between the Moon and the Milkman (our review here), the track is a gothic-folk tale which tells the true story of a French landlady Amelia once knew – a woman who endured an abusive marriage and ultimately found her own form of justice.
The cinematically shot music video was filmed in Paris and captures the nuanced emotional landscape of the story, drawing inspiration from the classic short film ‘Le Ballon Rouge’.
Sandra is one of my favourite songs from the album, inspired by the life of my French landlady, who Iโm still close to today. I wanted to release it as a single to carve out a special space for her story. Filming the video in Paris made it even more meaningful; walking the same streets she once took to and from work felt like stepping into her world. Her life held a lot of tragedy, but she never let it define her. We took inspiration from the classic short film Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon) to capture that part of her: the way she found joy and happiness even in the smallest things.

HEADING STATESIDE
Amelia Coburn is an artist that we have followed for quite some time. We love Between The Moon and the Milkman, and we touted Amelia in our 25 for ’25 preview (here) as her tour being one to watch out for.
Since then, Amelia Coburn confirmed that she will take her beguiling tunes and charm Stateside when she performs at SXSW on March 13th. It is a well deserved nod for an artist that has talent in abundance.
Sandra is a reminder of just how good Amelia Coburn is, and how strong the material on Between The Moon and the Milkman is. The album has seen praise in many quarters of the music industry, and it is fantastic to see a talented independent artist getting their just deserts.
