Joanne Shaw Taylor releases an astounding prelude to her forthcoming album. A song about how sometimes a party isn’t really a party at all.
Release Date: available now
Label: Journeyman Records
Format: digital

More explosive rip roaring rocking blues from one of our premier blues artists. A track due for inclusion on the June release of the Black And Gold album. Strong but nimble guitar work, driving riffs with an infectious back beat in abundance.
A SERIOUS MESSAGE
Hell Of A Good Time has a serious message though with the paradox of a night out of heavy drinking not always indicative of one of the better moments in your life. “A song about how sometimes a party isn’t really a party at all,” Joanne explains. “How drinking to excess and always being the life and soul of the party is usually one person’s way of running away from themselves. Unfortunately, that lifestyle can’t last forever and usually ends up not being a lot of fun.”
A life in the fast lane has its downside and can have as explosive an impact as the music on display in Hell Of A Good Time. We can expect more soul searching songs from Joanne Shaw Taylor along with her innovative brand of blues when the album is released in June.
Joe Bonammasa’s Journeyman Records prides itself on allowing blues artists to explore new avenues and personal dreams. Joanne Shaw Taylor has thrived in this atmosphere and has already reached the hearts of the blues fraternity. Her studio recordings reflect her live performances and on Hell Of A Good Time it is hard to tell the difference.
