Alt-pop newcomers The Deadman’s released their groovy, self titled debut album.

London based alt-pop newcomers The Deadman’s have released their long awaited self-titled debut album and it’s a real treat. Written and recorded in various countries, the cinematic and genre-bending album is catchy and groovy. If you like artist such as Wet Leg and Paramore, you will love The Deadman’s.

GROOVY AND UPBEAT

Lead track ‘Nice Kid’ is groovy and light with gritty electric guitar and personal lyrics, it heavily reminds me of Wet Leg. Lyrically, the track talks about being stuck in the wrong rooms with the wrong people when you know you’re made for more. It urges you to get out quick before that exit door is bolted shut, restricting you from getting to where you want to be in life .

Tracks such as ‘If Arizona Didn’t Exist’ and ‘Darling’ all carry that gritty electric guitar element which to me feels like a key part of The Deadman’s music. ‘If Arizona Didn’t Exist’ is an instantly catchy track with an upbeat tempo and rhythmic drums. It’s a no-nonsense break up song with lyrics depicting the joy in being broken up with, creating this new lease on life. ‘Darling’ is full of pulsing, electric guitar riffs and strong drums, allowing it to stand out with a distinctive rock sound on the album. Lead singer LaurenSage Browning sings “I stabbed the things you fear, / So you can stay / The week , the month the year / Stabbed the things you fear, / So you can stay the year”.

The final track on the album ‘Tattoo Season’, is the comedown of the album. While continuing that groovy, upbeat flow, the pace slows. Lead singer LaurenSage Browning sings ‘Since the day that I met you / It’s been tattoo season / Chanting: Permanent! Forever! / Giving your name as the reason”. It channels themes of relationships in the sense of marriage and in a way, it invites listeners to stay “Forever!”.

WONDERFULLY TALENTED

With the release of their self titled debut album, The Deadman’s also held a small listening party at Electrowerkz (23rd April 2026). The band performed the album live before release with help from sound artist Paul Cousins.

This album is full on bangers from start to finish. It’s smooth and groovy making it a super easy listen no matter what genre you’re into. Given the success of ‘Nice Kid’ and ‘If Arizona Didn’t Exist’, this album is bound to relish in its success.
