Three years on from selling out the O2 arena with his Faith In The Future World Tour, brit-pop oriented Louis Tomlinson has done it again with his current world tour How Did We Get Here? With support from the incredible ADMT and Pale Waves, it’s clear Tomlinson knows how to put on a show.
ADMT AND PALE WAVES
Doncaster singer ADMT kicked off the night with his soul-bearing pop melodies. He got the crowd swaying with his emotional lyrics on relationships and mental health with songs such as Homeless and Burn Brighter. Shortly after, alternative-rock band Pale Waves graced the stage treating London to their cover of Zombie by The Cranberries.
LOUIS TOMLINSON
The venue lit up in yellow as the words ‘lemonade’ burst onto the screen and the band burst into action. With gritty electric guitar and upbeat trumpets, the audience erupted into cheers and screams as Tomlinson walked on stage. Lemonade set the mood for the night and got everyone dancing, the energy in the venue was electric. Carrying on this electric theme, Tomlinson sang his hit track Written All Over Your Face with credits to lead guitarist Michael Blackwell for the insane guitar solo. The first acoustic song of the gig, Dark To Light covered the room in an emotional light. With people shining their torches, we all came together as one to experience this beautiful song.
UP ON THE CATWALK
As Tomlinson moved onto the catwalk, the venue glowed purple for an acoustic version of One Direction’s Night Changes which sent the venue into a frenzy. Along with the tour debut of Night Changes, London was blessed with the live debut of Last Night which was an instant hit with the crowd.
Throughout the night, Tomlinson shared his gratitude with the crowd, exclaiming how grateful he was for all the support throughout the years. A prominent moment of the gig was during the bridge of Kill My Mind where the fans lit up the arena. Watching Tomlinsons face light up really shows what the fans mean to Tomlinson and shows the power fans hold with these incredible fan projects.
The final song Palaces caused an explosion of joy amongst fans. With red confetti blanketing the venue, fans danced their hearts out for the final show of the EU/UK leg of tour. Tomlinson ended the show with a barricade run singing and dancing with fans, allowing him to feel the energy we feel in the crowd.
HOW TO PUT ON A SHOW
Watching Tomlinson perform is such an amazing experience. He knows how to put on a show and how to keep people dancing all night long. The show is full of high energy and intimate performances focusing on Tomlinsons incredible solo career as he navigates his own sound.
The How Did We Get Here? World Tour continues in June with the American and Australian legs taking place over the next few months. With support from The Aces and The Beaches, everyone’s in for a real treat.
